Halloween Tips for Disney World

What should you know before going to Mickey's not-so-scary Halloween party? These helpful tips will help you navigate this new event, especially if you've been to one of these Halloween parties before.

  • NOFeel the need to bring a bag of trick or treats. There are trick-or-treating events all over the Magic Kingdom, but the performers are giving away any bag you want for free.
  • AgainWear contemporary clothes! Yes, adults can useHalloween costumeAlso. Be sure to follow Disneyland's 14+ clothing guidelines as they are very specific. Think how hot it can be in Florida, even in the fall!
  • college professorDo not use park tickets to visit the Magic Kingdom on the day of the event. If you arrive at 4pm, you will have enough time to do whatever you want. Take advantage of the hours leading up to the event to visit other parks or just take a day off at your hotel.
  • AgainKeep using your Genie+ reservation (if you paid) during the party. Even if the crowd is smaller at the beginning of the season, it can still get crowded during the October parties. The Lightning channel is open!
  • NOI forgot to eat! Most of the park's restaurants close before the park's normal closing. If you want to grab a bite to eat before the party, check the restaurant's opening hours before heading out.
  • AgainEnjoy the atmosphere! The cast (both in front of the park and backstage) did their best to make the party more exciting. Interact with the "live" pirates from "Pirates of the Caribbean", Mrs. Lyotard in "The Haunted House" and dance parties at Storybook Circus, Tomorrowland and the Cosmic Ray Star Café.

Mickey's not-so-scary Halloween party for the little ones?

A Halloween event at Disney World may be the least scary Halloween event your child can attend. Even Disney villains seem friendlier at these events.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is a fun show that lets characters from the Hocus Pocus movies play alongside Disney villains from other movies. Oogie Boogie and Dr. Faciliers sing songs from their movies, then other Disney villains enter the stage and everyone dances along.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and all their friends will be dressed in their best Halloween costumes, many times friendlier than those of Disney villains.

Like most aspects of the Walt Disney World Resort, this event is family-oriented. If you're worried that the haunted house will look scarier at night, or that the headless horseman might scare your kids, avoid these areas of the park if possible.
